When you get off the train in Stäfa, you find yourself in a district whose once-pretty villages have been overwhelmed by development with buildings of all shapes, sizes and types. Below the railway line, you can make out a larger shape in the jumble of buildings: this is Neue Lanzeln senior citizens' centre: An ensemble consisting of one old building and two large, new ones. Their form is restful, slightly curved and opening to the lake. Neue Lanzeln is a sequence of public and private spaces. The entrance level functions as a neighbour-hood centre while the residential storeys are charac-terized by domestic intimacy with many different views.
The monograph introduces readers to the senior citizen's centre "Neue Lanzeln". An introductory text by Köbi Gantenbein, editor-in-chief at Hochparterre, is accompanied by numerous colour photographs and plans documenting the building, which was erected between 2006 and 2010.
