Care home Mettenweg, Stans
The design implements the extensive program in a faceted volume that integrates itself well into the surroundings and at the same time develops its own presence. The timber construction is based on local building traditions and high-quality craftsmanship.
The ground floor presents itself as an inviting public zone with clear itineraries to the residential groups and offices. Activating uses such as the multipurpose room and the studios contribute to the animation, while the two entrances provide an attractive address and multiple paths.
All residential groups are characterized by a homely intimacy and diverse connections. The clear structures make it easier for residents and visitors to orient themselves and ensure optimal work processes. The spatial sequence of the collective spaces offers far views of the field and mountain landscape. As a result, instead of corridor areas, attractive circular ways with well-usable spatial focal points are being created. The residents can stroll through their housing group and each time decide how far they want to move away from their individual home and participate in the community.
