The final stage of the Geeren Centre for the Elderly in Seuzach was inaugurated on Friday, 27 September 2024. After five years of construction, the extensive expansion and renovation project was successfully completed while the centre continued to operate.
The small-scale ceremony was attended by local councillors and municipal clerks from all the municipalities in the association, representatives of the press, architect and project manager Elke Weitzel and other Bob Gysin Partner employees, as well as representatives of the planning team, the client consultancy, operations, the building commission and the building committee.
The retirement centre opened in 1979 and was extensively extended and partially renovated forty years after it first opened. The project managed by Bob Gysin Partner comprised the extension with a new building and the renovation of the existing buildings. The construction work was carried out in several stages:
- 2020: Extension and opening of the Geerenpark restaurant
- 2022: Move into the new Haus Feld building
- 2023: Reopening of the partially renovated Haus Dorf
- Autumn 2024: Completion of the partial renovation of Haus Mitte, which now houses daycare, therapies, medical services and administration, and completion of the final landscaping work
The phased implementation made it possible to maintain the operation of the retirement centre throughout the entire construction phase while gradually renewing and expanding the facilities.
We would like to thank the entire project team for their outstanding work and commitment over the past few years. The renovated Geeren retirement centre is now ideally equipped to meet the needs of its residents and staff in the coming decades.
