Where Horw meets - 1st prize

BGP is awarded the contract for the conversion and extension of the Kirchfeld retirement center in Horw.

As part of the selective study contract, BGP developed a project that opens up the site even more, similar to a neighborhood center, and allows it to function as a local meeting place. In addition to the existing pillars of care and support, the areas of living and meeting form additional focal points of the ensemble.

By 2025, two new buildings will house apartments for the elderly, public services on the first floor, a day and night center, and five residential care groups for specialized care and support of people with dementia and mental illness.

Not least because of the diverse uses, the heart of the project is a piazza that transforms the street space from Kirchfeld into a meeting zone with a high quality of stay. Here, residents from the care center meet strollers, children from the daycare center and their parents, tenants from the retirement apartments, and guests from the public restaurant meet neighbors from the neighborhood.
