We are pleased to have been awarded 2nd place for our project “Plug & Play” in the public competition for the expansion of the Bülach vocational school – out of 43 submitted entries.
The design complements the listed school complex with two compact timber buildings: a flexibly usable school building and a multifunctional sports hall. These new structures create spaces for learning, movement, and interaction. Harmoniously integrated into the existing campus, they form an open ensemble with generous outdoor areas. The functional separation allows for dual use – by the school during the day, and by the public in the evenings and on weekends.
Thanks to modular construction using prefabricated elements and the omission of basement levels, the project can be realised efficiently and adapted as needed. The robust building structure supports a low-tech concept that convincingly meets the sustainability standards of Minergie-A/P-Eco and SNBS.
