Our project "Die Dorfboten" ("The Village Messengers"), which we developed together with Lorenz Eugster Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning, was unanimously recommended for further development by the evaluation committee.
"Lueg is Land!" - looking at the landscape: The local population has long known this area as a place with unique wide views. Our concept captures this quality with two courtyard-like building clusters in south-west orientation. The path system follows Gutenswil's historical development: A north-south promenade connects the surrounding landscapes through both building groups as the main path, while the central grove plaza on Luegislandstrasse forms the distinctive main address.
The settlement unfolds a panorama of striking trees, intimate niches, and spacious meeting points in which all apartments participate. Each building has community facilities such as laundry rooms, meeting areas, and joker rooms. The diverse housing options range from three-sided oriented, corridor-free apartments with flexible usage options to loft-like spaces or concepts for multi-generational living and live-work combinations.
The jury particularly appreciated the well-thought-out urban planning, the harmonious integration into the landscape, and the preservation of existing tree structures. The design creates high-quality living space with around 180 apartments and consistently considers aspects of biodiversity, social mixing, and high-quality recreational value.
Together with ALSA Pension Fund, we will now transform the project into a directional project. Interested parties can view the competition entries on March 15 and 16, 2025, at the Gries Culture and Sports Center in Volketswil.
