A Sustainable New Building - Eawag Forum Chriesbach

BGP_Forum_Chriesbach_Neue_Massstaebe_in_der_nachhaltigen_Entwicklung.jpgStructural and technical measures are beginning to reach the boundaries of what is now possible. An innovative architectural and technical concept has made this research and administration building a 'zero energy building' without using conventional heating and cooling systems. Acting on the principle that saving energy is better than having to generate it, primary measures were taken to keep the aggregate need for energy as low as possible, both during construction and in the operation of the building. The architectural character, variety of the interior spaces, workplace quality, and technical concepts together form an elaborate entirety which is greater than the sum of its parts.

The monograph presents the Forum Chriesbach in Dübendorf as a 'zero energy building'. It contains an introductory text by Köbi Gantenbein, editor-in-chief at Hochparterre, and numerous other texts, as well as colour photographs and plans of the building, which was erected between 2003 and 2006.
